Personal Profile
JIM TEKELY JR., MBA, CFE (pronounced: “Tee-Kelly”)
Mr. Tekely has been a long time advocate of senior issues including the
mission to increase the quality of senior health care benefits offered through the Medicare Benefits; especially focusing on increased
prescription drug coverage for senior citizens. Mr. Tekely having been an accountant and auditor for both
The Ohio Attorney General Office and The Ohio Auditor’s Office knows first-hand the need for
various improvements in the health care delivery system covered by Medicare, especially the need for
increased pharmacy benefits. Mr. Tekely has also worked on programs that increase the efficiency of the
Medicaid system in the State of Ohio. Mr. Tekely has spent much of his professional insurance-related
time in providing research to be used to create a more efficient Medicaid based HMO for a major hospital
provider in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Tekely believes that senior citizens should empower themselves and has commenced the usage of the
term: Stand Up For Seniors TM Recently Mr. Tekely has taken his senior advocacy approach to the basic
economic level to benefit senior by creating Senior Saver Dollars™ - a business concept that allows a
senior citizen to receive valuable discounts/coupons at local venders in their local market area at no cost to
the senior citizen. Mr. Tekely’s goal is to have thousands of discounts available to seniors at all types of
professional service providers and with discounts on brand name goods and consumer durable products,
such as cars, appliances, etc. Mr. Tekely desires seniors to be the most organized group of consumers in
the nation and for seniors to feel more comfortable with difficult purchasing decisions such as choosing an
accountant, an elder law attorney, an accountant, a financial planner or stock broker, planning for pre-need
or immediate need funeral services, receiving discounts at restaurants and hotels, choosing the best plan for
long term care insurance, and in having senior group buying power.
Mr. Tekely graduated with honors from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1985,
receiving the John Richmond Award from the O.U. School of Business Administration. Mr.
Tekely attended The Ohio University Graduate School of Business in l986, completing his graduate studies during 1988-1990 at The
Katz Graduate School of Business, The University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Tekely received his MBA in 1991 and then
attended The Ohio State University Graduate School of Business in 1992 to receive additional course work in his
chosen fields of Finance and Marketing.
Mr. Tekely worked as a development manager with a company that
established a group buying discount for Ohio Valley physicians, in the buying group, to purchase professional
liability insurance from certain insurance companies while receiving a “group, discounted premium rate.” This program was so successful
that Mr. Tekely utilized the same basic theory in establishing the National Association of Senior Citizens,
in order that seniors receive more information than is in the marketplace today regarding the above subjects
and to allow the senior citizen to make their best, qualified choice in determining the service and price they
will pay for such service(s). “Seniors should have many, many choices in the marketplace.” “Any
consumer who has many choices for similar products and services is inherently keeping the overall price
down on that particular product or service.” “The goal is to increase competition in the marketplace for
products and services that benefit seniors.” “Seniors arc small, the more choices they have, the better off
they are.” “Seniors should receive discounts at every level, from their insurance providers, their legal counsel, and all the way to the local gym or work-out facility.” “Seniors that stay fit both economically and
physically and mentally, most often enjoy an increased quality of life and in many instances, a higher
standard of living.” “It’s up to you to help yourself.” (United Steelworkers Local 1239, District 1) meeting
with Steelworkers of America, Retirees.)
